80_pan!

I'm so into this right now.

Here's the story, as far as I can tell.

This band started off as some sort of generic girly polished Morning Musume-ish pop band with like 5,000 girls in it, as "Harenchi Punch". Then some girls left and they changed their name to "80*Pan" but were still making bland uninteresting rock/pop (my opinion!). Now, they are down to a duo and are called "80_pan", and I can't believe it but its brilliant indie/trash/electro/disco-punk (the sort of thing journalists would call "new rave" *shudder*).

Please watch this brilliance.

From what I'm reading on the internet, fans of the original group are REALLY upset, but I have to say that this is the most stupid-fresh, wonderfully half-assed pop song to come out of Japan since Halcali's debut. This song is very refreshing considering the current wave of Capsule-produced songs featuring nothing but maximum autotuned vocals.

This is the kind of song that you hear at first and go "hmmm" but then 15 minutes later yourself going back to it.

I will be purchasing this album immediately. More of this please!

Also

While I'm sending you on random links places, you should probably check out my big sister's blog because it's filled with excellent pictures from her garden and is basically too darn adorable for words.

I've Got Bulldog Skin!

My long time friend Becca in Seattle has been working like crazy on this web show called Bulldog Skin. This is a show about high school, and from the test clips I've seen it reminds me a lot of the show "Popular". The site has a lot of info about the characters and some preview/test clips... think of them as mini-episode teasers. She has been working hard on this for a long time and I can't wait to see what she & the crew will do in a full episode! So please go check it out and sign up for her fanlist while you're there!!!
