Quintron & Miss Pussycat
Tonight we saw Quintron & Miss Pussycat at The Independent. Good venue & great show! They really are awesome performers and are genuinely very creative. Quintron is very intense to watch!
When they were setting up, Quintron was sort of in drag and dressed like Miss Pussycat and I thought, well I hope they aren't doing some weird Pandrogeny thing, because we all know how that turned out.
I have to say I left a little disappointed that Miss Pussycat only did one short puppet show, but at least it was a good one. Trixie & Marsha went to a haunted art gallery owned by the mean witch, Christie Cornpop. One of the paintings has a spell cast on it and Marsha gets turned into a marble statue :( I don't want to give away the ending completely, I'll just say that Santa shows up and takes care of some things.
I got to talk very briefly with Shopping Bear, and I got to buy the Trixie & The Treetrunks DVD! The website says its not coming out until December, so I was pretty excited to see it there and get it early! Woohah!

80_pan!
I'm so into this right now.
Here's the story, as far as I can tell.
This band started off as some sort of generic girly polished Morning Musume-ish pop band with like 5,000 girls in it, as "Harenchi Punch". Then some girls left and they changed their name to "80*Pan" but were still making bland uninteresting rock/pop (my opinion!). Now, they are down to a duo and are called "80_pan", and I can't believe it but its brilliant indie/trash/electro/disco-punk (the sort of thing journalists would call "new rave" *shudder*).
Please watch this brilliance.
From what I'm reading on the internet, fans of the original group are REALLY upset, but I have to say that this is the most stupid-fresh, wonderfully half-assed pop song to come out of Japan since Halcali's debut. This song is very refreshing considering the current wave of Capsule-produced songs featuring nothing but maximum autotuned vocals.
This is the kind of song that you hear at first and go "hmmm" but then 15 minutes later yourself going back to it.
I will be purchasing this album immediately. More of this please!

While I'm sending you on random links places, you should probably check out my big sister's blog because it's filled with excellent pictures from her garden and is basically too darn adorable for words.
I've Got Bulldog Skin!
My long time friend Becca in Seattle has been working like crazy on this web show called Bulldog Skin. This is a show about high school, and from the test clips I've seen it reminds me a lot of the show "Popular". The site has a lot of info about the characters and some preview/test clips... think of them as mini-episode teasers. She has been working hard on this for a long time and I can't wait to see what she & the crew will do in a full episode! So please go check it out and sign up for her fanlist while you're there!!!Thursday, June 26, 2008

Awwwwww yeah, I scored a chase Stereotype toy from Superdeux.
I don't know what it is about these, but they're my favorite toy series to collect - I don't know why I hardly ever see them in stores.
